These prints are examples of the landscape work by two famous artists , Hiroshige and Hokusai. bY the time he produced the 100 Famous views of Edo, hiroshige was so comfortable in his technical ability that he began to play with the conventions of the genre and to experiment with unusual uses of perspective. Many of the prints in this series combine distant views with hard close-ups. The three prints from Hokusai's 36 Views of Mt Fuji show his equally playful use of local scenery to frame unusual and distant views of the sacred mountain.
