In March, the cold recedes and the first signs of spring appear. The peach blossoms bloom in the garden, telling of the joy of life renewed. About this time, the swallows come flying over the ocean from the south to Japan, where they build their nests under the eaves and rear their young. In this picture, two baby swallows arc squabbling over an insect they have found on a peach branch, while the moon, shedding its pale light over the scene, adds to the magic of a mild spring night.
