The wind is blowing strongly across the bogs along the Mie River. The leaning figure, the flowing cloak, the bending marsh reeds and the hat about to roll off the corner of the print with its owner in hot pursuit: Hiroshige's humorous depiction of the effect of the wind. Today, this is a modern, prosperous petrochemical city but the contemporary bridge has retained some of the features of Hiroshige's.
