Types of Prints

Woodblock prints generally categorise themselves into five principal subject classes. These are

ACTORS - scenes and characters from plays and stage performances BIJIN - Pretty women or geishas

KACHO-E - studies of nature LANDSCAPES - studies of nature on a larger scale

WARRIORS - pictures of samurai ready for battle This site contains new reproduction prints produced in the last year or two. It contains some secondhand reproduction prints produced over the last 50 to 80 years and it has a few original modern prints. Examples of all these categories can be found here.
